This piece was inspired by the 2019 uprisings in Sudan against Omar Al Bashir's government. Till today I am still inspired by the courage, resilience and hope of the people of Sudan in the face of tyranny. The explosion of art, music and poetry that came out of these uprisings displays the persistence of civilians in having their voices heard and refusal to relinquish their identity. 

Artist bio:
Aya is a Law and Politics student, illustrator, and storyteller whose work explores culture, identity, and community. Having grown up in different places, she finds inspiration in the ways people connect across backgrounds and traditions. Her designs aim to evoke a sense of meaning and familiarity, drawing from everyday moments as well as shared cultural traditions. Through her creative work and community projects, Aya uses design and storytelling to bring people together
